In 2011, Sheriff Grzegorek formally recreated a Cybercrimes Unit in order to combat the growing trend of online crimes committed against children. Our Cybercrimes Unit works closely with the United States Attorney's Office and the St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office. It is affiliated with the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Taskforce, the Federal Bureau of Investigation Cybercrimes Taskforce, and receives support from the United States Secret Service.
Our Cybercrimes Unit is actively involved in presenting internet safety information in our community as well. Since it's inception, we have presented to dozens of different groups and schools throughout Indiana representing over 15,000 people. If you would like a representative of the Cybercrimes Unit to speak to your group, please contact Eric Tamashasky at (574) 245-6540 or sjcpd.cybercrimes@gmail.com.
