Payment History Information

To obtain a copy of your payment history record you need to request it from the St. Joseph County Clerk’s Office.  There are three locations in the South Bend/Mishawaka area.  The main child support Clerk’s Office is located in the basement of the County City Building/ Court Complex downtown South Bend, another is at the Thomas N. Frederick Juvenile Justice Center located at 1000 S Michigan Street in South Bend and the other location is at the Mishawaka County Services building located at 219 Lincolnway West in Mishawaka.  If you are attempting find out information on recent payments you can do so by calling the KIDS LINE at 1-800-840-8757 or via the web at http://www.mychildsupport.in.gov.

Court Order Information

To obtain a copy of you child support court order you need to go to the St. Joseph County Clerk’s Office in the courthouse where your hearing was held.*The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office Child Support Division does not and will not give out child support court orders and payment history records*

Custody/ Visitation Issues

In accordance with Federal Law, the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office Child Support Division does not get involved in custody or visitation issues.  If you were granted custody of the child(ren) involved in your case through the courts and have a court order terminating the support order, please bring or send your court order to your caseworker.  If the child is now living with you and you do not have a court order granting you custody, your child support order remains active and ongoing until a court grants you the legal custody of the child(ren) and terminates your child support order.

Modifications

Every child support case that our office is enforcing is entitled to a review of their child support order.  To be eligible for a review it is necessary that your case involves an active weekly child support order and that it has been over a year since the last time your child support order was review.   In order for your review to be filed for a modification, the review must show a 20% variance up or down from the current support order.  We will move forward on the modification if review changes the order up or down.  So if you are trying to modify your order upward and the review shows a downward change of 20% or greater we will file for a modification that would decrease your child support order (and vice versa).
