  • 2 Soft-Cover Books

  • Ultrasounds are allowed in rooms and are not counted toward family photos total
  • 3 Letters (Cannot combine multiple letters in one envelope)
  • 1 Complete Uniform
  • 1 Set Undergarments (Includes T-Shirt for Females)
  • 1 Set Thermals
  • 1 Pair of Socks
  • 1 Uniform Shirt
  • 1 Uniform Pant
  • 1 Sweatshirt
  • Court Documents
  • Documents approved by Probation or Mental Health Staff 

Contraband List

  • Pens, pencils, and hard covered books
  • More than 2 books
  • More than 3 letters
  • More than 5 family photos of immediate family
  • Hygiene items not during the appropriate time
  • Food/Snacks not during appropriate times
  • Damaged or destroyed property
  • Pictures attached on walls
  • Staples/Paperclips of any kind

Personal Cabinet Contraband

  • Excessive amounts of hygiene supplies

Books and Reading Materials

Only school textbooks and soft-cover religious books (Bible, Koran, Talmud, etc.) that have been screened by detention administration for contraband and appropriateness will be allowed into detention. All books that are not school textbooks that are allowed into detention will be considered donations to the JJC library and will not be returned. Residents will not be able to take hard covered textbooks into their rooms, but will have access to them during school and homework time. Residents do have access to books on the pods and level 3 & 4 have access to the JJC library with over 3,500 books.
